Review:
This cute little story is in poetic form. The guinea pigs have adorable names. The illustrations are vivid and colorful, giving the story upbeat cheer. There were a couple of words that children are unlikely to understand, and there was a wrong homophone. The author apparently meant to say “donning” cowls (wearing), as opposed to “dawning” cowls (daybreak, or figuratively, the beginning of something).
Poetry of course, has lines, each beginning with a capital letter; however, in this story, the lines were put together to form sentences. This gave the impression that there were capitals in the middle of sentences. This could be misleading to kids.
There is a line that has “their firm healthy poops.” Did the author mean “boops”? The picture shows a character bumping into a robot. I don’t think the author meant bowel movements. However, despite these issues, it is a charming tale with a cute message. It just needs some editing.
