G- S: is for Saskatchewan. Saskatchewan is known for it’s fertile plains, known as the prairies, where wheat and other grains grow over many acres. Yet, Saskatchewan has it’s famous Cypress Hills which are the highest hills between Alberta and Quebec. The famous Farley Mowat book, “Owls in the Family” takes place in the Saskatchewan plains. Regina is its capital.

 

H- S: represents The Stanley Cup, the special trophy used for the winner of the National Hockey League playoffs every spring. The cup was donated by and named for Lord Stanley.

Ms. Woodsit, a retired teacher, has been writing for fun for years and is now publishing children's books. During her time as a teacher she felt students needed more basic facts about their country, such as learning we had a queen, that the capital of our provinces and territories weren't known and what some of our natural resources and wonders were. She has also helped with composing lyrics to a number of songs with her songwriting and performing friends. She loves travelling, swimming and taking care of her animals.
