Gracie Hofner returns, and chaos reigns—including a couple of ghosts trying to save their granddaughter. But as Gracie dances from problem to problem, she’s unaware the music has been orchestrated into a murderous symphony.

When a different melody reaches Gracie’s ears from a guitar played by the new tenant living in her garage apartment, her tension vanishes. She listens unseen, cocooned in the shadows on her patio, and wonders who he’s longing for—and how it would feel for someone to crave her that much.

She can’t dwell on those thoughts, however. Problems of murder and missing prisoners abound. To say nothing of the ghosts. No one ever said being a law enforcement consultant would be easy.

Bluebonnet Ballerina follows Jalapeno Cupcake Wench and is the second book in The Amazing Gracie Trilogy.

Read an Excerpt:

“I don’t even know where to begin. Oh, yes I do! With this.” Gracie pulled out her phone and found

Donovan’s photo. She handed it across.
A smile spread across Ariana’s face. “Look at those eyes. Does this sexy hunk have a name?”

“Donovan Beck.”

“Tell me you like him and he likes you and it’s not some kind of police thing.”

“I thought I liked him, but…”

“Gracie.” Ariana motioned with her fingers for Gracie to tell her more, but Gracie kept her mouth shut. “Come on, spit it out.”

“He’s a good kisser.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

“It means that I met him on the job, but he wasn’t the reason I was on the job. Bastion sent me to a bakery—Jalapeno Cupcake—and Donovan was there helping his sister. She’s the owner and just had a baby.”

Ariana sipped her water. “Does he know what you do?”

“Sort of.”

“And?”

“He doesn’t like it.”

“Is that why you think you don’t like him?”

Gracie shook her head. “He’s controlling. We went out once—probably not again.”

“Is he really controlling, or is that an excuse?”

“No excuse. A combination of thinking he can tell me how to do my job, spend my time, and even unwarranted jealousy.”

Ariana leaned forward. “Who’s he jealous of?”

“The guy who came to look at your old apartment.”

“I see. Tell me about him.” She smiled again.

“My mother sent him.”

Welcome to author Rachel Brimble

Hello, Rachel, congratulations on your Saga/Romance book release, The Mistress of Pennington's.

 Let's hear about it:
BLURB:

Elizabeth Pennington should be the rightful heir of Bath's premier department store through her enterprising schemes and dogged hard work. Her father, Edward Pennington, believes his daughter lacks the business acumen to run his empire and is resolute a man will succeed him.

Determined to break from her father's iron-clad hold and prove she is worthy of inheriting the store, Elizabeth forms an unlikely alliance with ambitious and charismatic master glove-maker Joseph Carter. United they forge forward to bring Pennington's into a new decade, embracing woman's equality and progression whilst trying not to mix business and pleasure.

Can this dream team thwart Edward Pennington's plans for the store? Or will Edward prove himself an unshakeable force who will ultimately ruin both Elizabeth and Joseph?

****Sounds interesting!

Excerpt:

Her gentle study drifted to his mouth and back again. ‘Did you love her? The woman you once worked with?’

Joseph stared, as disquiet whispered through him. ‘Why do you ask?’

‘I find it implausible that a man who holds women in such high regard has not known what it means to love one. You have been in love. I see it in your eyes. Unfortunately for you, they’re very revealing.’

He ran his gaze over her face and hair. Every sound muted. The amber glow of the few lit candles danced over her skin, turning it pearlescent. ‘I was married. To a wonderful, caring woman. A woman who worked beside my father and I every day after we were married.’

Her voice softened. ‘What happened to her?’

‘She died.’ He would tell her no more, the shame of his failure burned like acid in his chest and he quickly stood, wanting the intensity to ease, her justified scrutiny to end. ‘Will you try on a pair of gloves?’

He brushed past her and breathed deep as he approached a box of his finished gloves. Lifting a pair of soft kid, perfectly stitched and the exact green of her eyes, the pale cream stitching the colour of her skin.

When he turned and walked back to his bench, she had sat in his seat. She carefully watched his approach, her eyes unreadable.
Who and What Inspired My Love of Books…by Rachel Brimble

I have no idea how old I was when my passion for books took hold of me, but I must have been very young. The reason I know this is because one of my earliest memories is being around the age of four or five and my teacher telling my mother I had a ‘gift’ for English comprehension and I felt my very first flush of pride.
My love of books was introduced and nurtured in all their beautiful glory by my wonderful mother. Our house was always filled with books and I was a super regular visitor to our local library from a very young age. I clearly remember standing on my toes to see above the counter, lol! My mum, my brother and I are all avid readers…something my Dad has quietly tolerated all his life as he NEVER reads books. A phenomenon I can’t understand, lol!
As for when I began to dream of being a published writer one day, this started around the age of eight or nine when I discovered Enid Blyton’s Secret Seven series…then came the Sweet Dreams books (anyone remember them??). I absolutely devoured one after another and that’s when I started writing romantic stories of my own. Unfortunately, they’ve all disappeared but how I wish I’d kept them!
As for my writing aspirations, life took over and I started work in a bank and completely ignored that voice that used to nudge me to write, reminding me of my dream, for about twelve years. However, my love for reading never faltered and I’ve constantly had a book to hand…sometimes two or three.
I read widely. Everything from romance, to crime, to historical fiction, to historical non-fiction, to women’s fiction. My bookshelves and attic are crammed with books that I swear to my husband, I need…it’s an obsession and I’m a self-confessed and proud bibliophile.
So, when did I finally starting seriously writing? That came in 2005 when my youngest daughter started school full-time. I had a slap in the head ‘now or never’ moment and embarked on realising my lifetime dream.
In 2007, The Wild Rose Press published my first book, Searching For Sophie, and since then I’ve had twenty other novels published by small presses, Harlequin, eKensington and, now, Aria Fiction. I feel blessed and grateful for doing what I love every day and now encourage my children with everything I have to pursue the job that they would willingly do for free!
Happy Reading…
