A welcome to author Chris Karlsen

Hello, Chris, congratulations on the release of your historical romance! Let's hear a little about In Time for You.

-->

While horseback riding in the English countryside, sisters, Electra and Emily Crippen find themselves trapped in a tear in time. Thrown back to 1357 England and caught by a local noble, they are in a place that is home but as frightening and unfamiliar as an alien world would be. With no idea how the tear in time came about, the one thing they do know is: they must stay together and stay near to where the event took place in hopes of discovering the way back to their modern life. That certain need to stay together is the first certainty taken from them when one sister is forced to remain in England and one is sent miles away to Wales by royal order.

There is one other hope for help the sisters don’t know exists. It’s Electra’s lover, Roger Marchand. A time traveler himself, he never told her of his past. When he realizes what has happened to the sisters, he enlists the help of a scientist friend to help him open the suspected passageway through time. Any effort to save Electra and Emily will likely cost him his life. This was the time Roger came from, a time when his country, France, was at war with England. If he is discovered on English soil while searching for the sisters, he will either be killed or taken prisoner of war. Any risk is worth saving the life of the woman he loves.

This sounds really interesting. I love time travel stories. Now for an excerpt:

-->
While she ate, the button on Electra's sleeve fell out of the frog loop. She didn't hook the button again, reaching for her wine instead. The sleeve pulled back from her wrist to expose her watch, which she hadn't thought to remove.

"What is that?" Simon asked and pointed to her Seiko.

"A watch." What a bizarre question. There wasn't a corner of the planet that people didn't recognize a wristwatch.

A frown slowly formed and he stretched across Emily and took hold of Electra's hand to tug it toward him for a better look. He turned her hand over and in a matter of seconds had the clasp undone.

He brought the candle in front of his trencher closer and held the watch under it. "What do the numbers mean?"

"It's a clock, a miniature timepiece you wear on your wrist."

From his expression, the explanation puzzled him. "Do they not have candle clocks in this Greenland you claim you're from?"

How to explain the abundance of various clocks to a man who apparently has no context for the anything beyond a candle clock or similar ancient means of telling time?

"Are you saying you've never seen a clock?" Emily asked.

"One like this? No, I have not."

Emily bent her head nearer Electra and whispered, "Are you thinking what I am?"

"Sadly, yes."

Simon ran his finger over the watch face. "These small digits, what is their meaning?"

"It's the date and year: 5.14.15."

He shook his head. "What year is 15?"

"2015, of course."

"You are mad. It's the year of our Lord, 1357."

I was born and raised in Chicago. My father was a history professor and my mother was, and is, a voracious reader. I grew up with a love of history and books.

My parents also love traveling, a passion they passed onto me. I wanted to see the places I read about, see the land and monuments from the time periods that fascinated me. I’ve had the good fortune to travel extensively throughout Europe, the Near East, and North Africa.

I am a retired police detective. I spent twenty-five years in law enforcement with two different agencies. My desire to write came in my early teens. After I retired, I decided to pursue that dream. I write three different series. My paranormal romance series is called, Knights in Time. My romantic thriller series is Dangerous Waters. The newest is The Bloodstone Series. Each series has a different setting and some cross time periods, which I find fun to write.

I currently live in the Pacific Northwest with my husband and five wild and crazy rescue dogs.

Welcome to author Tamara Gill

Hello, Tamara, welcome! Congratulations on your book release.

-->
BLURB:

After two failed seasons in town, May Stanford sees her future no longer with her family, but in a nearby convent where she’ll not be anyone’s financial burden. But before she can embark on her new life, May must complete her dealings with the local smugglers, men who have kept a roof over her family’s head during frugal times. One last Christmas at home and her life would change forever. So when William Scott, the Earl of Grandison arrives and crumbles her perfectly planned future to rubble, May is less than pleased.

William, Lord Grandison works for the Crown, and is determined to catch the nuisance Englishmen who dare smuggle along the Cornwall coast. William has never veered from his pursuit of these men working against the law, that was until he meets May Stanford, the maddening daughter of his host for Christmas. May drives him to distraction and forces him to admit to feelings he has never felt before.

But when May and William discover the crippling truth of each other, their secrets will threaten to tear them apart.

And how about an excerpt:

-->
A sailing ship rocked on the waves beyond the reef, its sails furled as if stationary. Where they anchored there, and if so, why were they? She squinted and from this distance could just make out a few men scurrying about on deck. But it wasn’t a ship she recognized, certainly none of the smuggling vessels she was familiar with. Her friend and smuggling partner Stephen, wasn’t due to shore for some weeks yet. So who was out there?

She stood and shaded her eyes to get a better view and stilled when she noticed a small wooden craft headed for shore. She’d not noticed it hidden in the waves while she sat. A lone passenger rowed the boat with ease and great precision toward her beach.

With her gaze fixed firmly on him, May hurried toward the cliff face and sheltered behind a boulder. The closer he came the more aware she was of his attire, or lack thereof. Tanned muscles flexed with every stroke of his oar, the contours of his lower arm muscles glistening in the last remaining rays of sunlight. Her breath caught. She’d never seen a man in such a state of undress. As a daughter of a viscount, the men she was usually introduced to were dressed in the height of fashion—knee breeches, waistcoats, jackets and cravats that oozed privilege and breeding.

Not this man it would seem.

Welcome to author Jennifer Kacey

Hello, Jennifer, congratulations on your release, Elite Ghosts! I see it's a military and MC romance.

-->
BLURB:

For more than two years they’ve been ghosts. Nothing but names on empty tombstones. Men and women forced to fade into the background after being pulled from the rubble. Dead Marines saved from a fate worse than death, but ordered to stand down while their lives disappeared all around them.

Some knew it could happen if a mission exploded. Double crossed by more than just Red Wolf. But now is their time to be reborn from the flames of a Phoenix. No longer imprisoned in the shadows. A half-life between them and their future. To make things right coming back to life is their only option.

*Now that sounds intriguing! Let's have an excerpt:

Titanium’s Sacrifice Excerpt By Jennifer Kacey
He was alone.

Trapped in the darkness.

Caged inside his own fucking broken body.

As Lifetime movie as it was, he was surrounded by his brothers and sisters, even his blooded niece, Poppy, and he’d never been more lonely. Not even in the months he was in and out of a coma. The surgeries. The mother fucking rehab.

They were all making a home here on the Elite compound…

Home.

Not for him.

Just another place in the dark. Like any other. They all looked the same with no sight to guide him.

Annie, his wonder dog, whined again. The weight of her chin rested on his thigh, right above where one of his prostheses attached. Running his fingers over her silky fur, he tried to find his inner peace. Or Zen. Or some other existential bullshit place no more real than an honest politician’s summer home. His happy place lived on the same street as Pee Wee Herman and a rainbow unicorn he met once when he was stupid enough to drop acid in college.

What did they have in common?

None of them existed.

Closing his eyes used to help him focus. It would block out the extraneous visual noise the military coughed up, often, and gave him an opportunity to sift through everything. Weed out the chaff and keep the good stuff.

Now?

Now didn’t look any different in the new shade of black when his lids finally closed. It was noon on a bright and shiny day. Only reason he knew the time? Because his clock on the wall had gone off a few minutes prior and his neck was growing warm from the sun coming in the window behind him.

Was he grateful for surviving?

Most days.

Today wasn’t most days.

Welcome to author Bernadette Marie

Hello, Bernadette, and welcome! Congratulations on your book release, a contemporary romance.
Let's hear about it.
-->
BLURB:

Bethany Waterbury left Hollywood and the shadow of her mother's death to give herself a fresh start. Her main intention—to connect with the family she’d never really had the chance to know.

Author Kent Black is enjoying his chart topping success and living freely wherever his travels take him. But when he meets the illustrious Bethany Waterbury his wanderlust subsides and the thought of a steady future begins to take over.

Kent believes in happily ever after, but the burden of Bethany’s past might be too much for him to embrace —unless true love is more powerful than a Hollywood tragedy.

And now for an excerpt:

-->
Coffee houses once were a source of inspiration. They had a vibe and a feel to them. Now, Kent thought, they were more like bars.

The same people walked in and out of the door every day. They ordered the same addictive concoction and either carried it out or sat for hours and chatted with others.

He missed the days where he could pull up to a table and no one bothered him for hours. Since he was traveling it was one of his only options. Sure, he could hold up in his hotel room, but that wasn’t very inspirational either. Even though he’d rather be alone, he needed to surround himself with people for inspiration—he just wished they weren’t so noisy.

The door opened again. It had become habit to look up and study the person. This one had him sitting up, removing his fingers from the keyboard of his laptop, and following her with his eyes.

Long red curls bounced over her shoulders, which were bare in a sundress with yellow flowers. She was lean and toned and absolutely radiant. She walked to the end of the line and Kent turned in his chair to follow her with his gaze.

Smiling at the boy behind the counter, Kent noted that the young man flushed at her simple gesture. That said something.

She continued on to pay for her drink. He heard the woman ringing up her order offer a pastry to which the redhead waved off with her hand and a laugh. Obviously she’d avoid that, he knew just by looking at her. Her drink was probably low fat blah too.

When she turned the beauty of her hit Kent right in the chest. He’d never seen such a beautiful specimen.

Welcome to author Mia Marshall

Hello, Mia, congratulations on your new release Lost Causes.
Let's hear about the book.
-->
BLURB:

Aidan Brook has spent months living with the horror of what happened when she lost control of her magic. Now she is searching for a way to manage her immense power, but she only hits one dead end after another.

On the run from a council intent on her death, Aidan, the bear shifter Mac, and the rest of her friends find themselves on a desperate chase across deserts and oceans in search of answers. Along the way, they encounter a living myth and a dual magic with secrets of his own—and they learn that the cure may be more deadly than the disease.

To save her own life, Aidan will need to confront the most dangerous foe she’s ever faced…herself.

LOST CAUSES is the fourth book in the award-winning Elements urban fantasy series.

Sounds good!

And now for an excerpt:

-->
The magic hissed in fear and anger. For a moment it considered attacking, but there wasn’t enough water left to drown her.

Also, it was Sera. I didn’t hurt Sera.

I stumbled backwards as reason slammed into me. I wrenched the threads of magic toward me. They twisted in my core, displeased, but at least I controlled them. It had so nearly been the other way around.

Sera’s movements were hesitant, as if she approached a wild beast, but her eyes were as determined as ever.

“I’m back,” I said. My face was red and my heart pounded like I’d just sprinted a mile, but I’d come back. This time, at least, I’d come back.

Sera studied my face for a long, silent moment. She returned the syringe to the black case and tucked that into one of the kitchenette’s drawers.

Carmichael and Vivian watched me as they would a stranger. A stranger who might try to eat their liver with fava beans and a nice Chianti.

“Really, it’s me. So long as I’m not using the magic, I’m still Aidan. I didn’t slide any further down the sanity slope.”

They looked unconvinced.

“We can’t just use the drug every time.” I attempted logic. “It knocks me out for days, and we can’t afford that.”

“I’m all for knocking you out, but we don’t have enough left to do it whenever you’re an idiot.” That might have been Sera agreeing with me.

I gave her a shaky smile. She slapped my face.

“Hey!” It only stung a little, but allowing her to slap me whenever she thought I was stupid wasn’t a precedent I wanted to set.

Very good. Thanks.
